MME can support and consult the Client in the development of backward integration for supply of Iron & Steel Making Plants
Pelletizing process changes very fine iron ore into balls with a certain diameter , which is known as pellet . Due to the following benefit are suitable for Direct Reduction plant and Blast Furnace as well:
- Uniform size range within a range of 9-16 mm.
- High porosity which gives fast reaction speed, therefore more metallization degree.
- High mechanical strength for thermal stress in reducing phase and also low degradation under transporting.
The palletizing process can be consist of followings steps:
Raw Material preparation for Green pellets
Prior to the formation of green pellets the water is added to the fine iron ore in order to adjust its moisture content to a certain level (approximately 9%) and then is mixed with small amount of Bentonite as a binder and fluxes like lime and Dolomite in order to make pellets with proper physical and metallurgical properties which needed for in further processing.
Green Pellets forming
The prepared Materials are fed to the palletizing Disc and in this stage the Green pellets are formed. Green pellet size can be adjusted by varying the Disk inclination according to the customer required.
Pellet hardening
The Green Pellets needs to be hardened for process to reach high mechanical strength for DR process. To do this the green pellets pass over a double deck screen to separate out the over sized and under sized pellets. And then the right sizes (9-16 mm) will go through the furnace with updraft drying, downdraft drying firing , after firing and cooling zone.
